I'm Kelly Truong, a System Administrator at PureVoltage Hosting in Dallas–Fort Worth, working hands-on with the infrastructure that keeps a hosting provider running: dedicated servers, colocation, network gear, and everything that breaks in between.

What I do

Seven years in datacenters and network operations. I've coordinated network and server migrations inside maintenance windows, run fiber and copper cross-connects, recovered dead BMCs with a chip programmer, and configured everything from Arista switches to VyOS routers. Currently I manage systems at PureVoltage — server administration, IPMI/BMC operations, hardware triage on the datacenter floor, and network troubleshooting from layer 1 up.

Where I've been

  • PureVoltage Hosting — System Administrator (2026–present)
  • Apple — Lab Engineer (2024–2025)
  • Evocative Data Centers — Data Center Engineer (2022–2023)
  • LinkedIn — System Engineer (2022–2023)
  • Carrier-1 Data Centers — NOC Technician (2019–2022)

Security

CompTIA Security+ certified. I run an isolated home pentest lab (segmented VLANs, dedicated Kali environment behind a hardened VyOS firewall) and work through TryHackMe rooms — SSRF, IDOR, security principles, malware analysis tooling. My goal: network security engineering, where the networking depth and the security work meet.

This site

Decoded Empire is where I document the lab builds, field repairs, and security work — real configs, real failures, real fixes.
